Hello, fellow vinyl enthusiasts! I'm James, your resident vinyl aficionado and the voice behind this blog. My love affair with vinyl began when I was about 8 or 9 years old when I used to listen from outside my older brother's room when he would have his music cranked. This was in the early 70's when classic rock (it was just called rock then) was in it's heyday.
My first album ever was Queen's Sheet Heart Attack, and it's been a love affair with rock and vinyl ever since.
Unfortunately my massive collection was lost in transit when I moved back from my 3 year residence in Germany and my heart was broken. But my love of vinyl never waivered as I set out to rebuild my collection.
Despite the convenience of some of the other formats that have come and gone, including steaming now, it always comes back to vinyl for me. From the moment I laid the needle on that first record, I was hooked. The warm, rich sound, the tactile experience, the thrill of discovery - it was a sensory symphony that digital formats simply couldn't replicate.
Over the years, my passion for vinyl has only grown. I've scoured dusty thrift stores for hidden gems, camped out at record stores for new releases, and even traveled cross-country to attend vinyl conventions. My tastes span genres and decades, from the psychedelic rock of the '60s to the hip-hop beats of the '90s, but my heart always finds its way back to rock.
I've learned a lot from my adventures in vinyl collecting - how to care for records, what to look for in a quality turntable, where to find the best deals, and so much more. This blog is my way of sharing that knowledge and hopefully inspiring a few new collectors along the way.
